Outfit Post: The Lady in White

I like to wear a mostly white outfit every now and then to throw people off. This is actually the same outfit I wore on Halloween day last year, and people kept complementing me on my costume.....

Top: skeletal bride and groom, from Walmart last Halloween
Skirt: the white skirt I bought at Goodwill, and added the lace trim myself. All hand-striched, because I have an irrational fear of sewing machines. They make me think I'm going to sew my finger to something.

The skeleton lady cameos you have seen on me before; I thought the pearls and white details were a nice touch to this outfit.

I'm debating on what I want to wear on Halloween day this year. I don't wear costumes, but I do dress up to the nines in whatever I have. What are you guys planning to wear? Do you have any special plans for the day?

Halloween Haul: New School Bag

This is a bag I found at Big Lots yesterday. Yes, yes, I know it is a treat bag, but one of the beautiful things about subcultures is finding ways to use things out of context, and this makes a great bag to carry books and notebooks in. I carried one around all this year that I bought last Halloween and it served me pretty well. They do get rips and things in them from use, but when you pay about $1 for them, you really can't complain. And it's so cute!

Do any of you guys do weird things like this?

Sunday Outfits: Victorian Grunge

Welcome new followers, and yay for over 10,000 views!

This is a bit late for a Sunday post, but I really liked this outfit. About a year ago, Sam bought me a top from Ebay that turned out to be too small; I recently unearthed it again (I never throw anything away), and decided to cut off the sleeves and make it a vest of sorts.

Ergo, Victorian Grunge fashion is born:

Should have worn my spiked collar with it.

What do you guys think? Will this catch on? Cut apart your clothes for the sake of fashion!

Outfit Post

My only Monday class was canceled today, but I still had to drive to campus to exchange a camera that me and another student are sharing for film class.  This might seem like I'm whining, but I live almost an hour from my college, so yeah....gas.

Anyway, I liked what I was wearing so I felt good.

Spider web top: ebay
Dress: Thrift store. the ends of the dress all trail off so it looks like its falling apart at the seems - I love it!

Goth Color Blocking

I don't know how many of you keep up with the mainstream and their fashion fads; I don't normally myself save for what I see people wearing on the street, but there is one that a fashion-forward friend of mine wrote an article about in our college newspaper when I was its Editor-in-Chief (this has been a couple of semesters ago) that I rather liked and wanted to try.

It's called color blocking, and basically uses contrasting colors paired together to make a statement. There is an article explaining it more thoroughly here. The overall effect is striking, if not slightly daunting, so I thought there had to be a way of Gothing it up.

So voila, here it is: Goth Color Blocking!

Ok, so it's still mostly black, but I've managed to splash in some purple, green, pink, and yellow.

This top I got from Walmart last Halloween, the skeleton bat necklace is from Spencer's.

Skirt is from Hot Topic, it's Tripp.

Tights are from Walmart, last Halloween as well. Shoes are Iron Fist, from HT I think. No one does high heels like Iron Fist!

And for no apparent reason, the term Goth Color Blocking made me think of this video, enjoy!

Say Good-bye to long hair

I cut my hair! I think this is as short as I've ever had it; I just couldn't see going through the suffocating Georgia heat with that long, thick mass of curl.

Forgive the bemused expression, it was early.

Debating on PVC

I've never owned anything made from PVC, but I've seen some pieces lately that have a Victorian feel to them and am curious about the fabric. My immediate impression is that I'll squeak when I walk.

Do any of you guys own anything PVC? How does it wear, how does it feel, and how would I take care of it? Please leave me a comment!
