Halloween Haul: New School Bag

This is a bag I found at Big Lots yesterday. Yes, yes, I know it is a treat bag, but one of the beautiful things about subcultures is finding ways to use things out of context, and this makes a great bag to carry books and notebooks in. I carried one around all this year that I bought last Halloween and it served me pretty well. They do get rips and things in them from use, but when you pay about $1 for them, you really can't complain. And it's so cute!

Do any of you guys do weird things like this?

  1. I like that bag. I always say if you buy something weather it`s a car, dishwasher or just a bag It is better to use it to destruction, than to leave it unused and unwanted

    1. I did put the other one in a closet though, just in case something horrific happens to this one I'll have a back-up that I can still use.

    1. YAY shopping! Unfortunately, I don't have the funds this year to really get what I want. Big Lots has surprised me this year; in just window shopping, I've seen some place mats I'd like to get for my kitchen table, and a couple of welcome mats that I like too. Target always has great stuff for the home.

    2. Yeah, I don't have a tremendous amount of funds this year, but I always like to at least pick up an inexpensive item or two, especially if it's something like a bag, or candles, or something I need that just happens to have a Halloween motif. Sometimes, I just wait until this time of year to pick up household items, even if I have to make do for a few months with what I have (or without) just so I can justify getting the same item, just spookier. Of course, there's also the sales at the end of October & November. Last year, I found plates, bowls, & glasses at a grocery store for around a quarter apiece!

  5. I had a couple of carry bags I really liked by making a donation to something or other at Hot Topic a couple of times. They both eventually wore out. I have one now that is made of hemp and has a big skull on it. I don't like the color though, because it's brown. I tried dying it black once but for whatever reason, it didn't work.

    1. That's one DIY trick I have not tried yet, dying something. I've heard such mixed experiences with people trying to dye items, especially black, that I kind of hesitate to risk anything that I like in trying to alter the color. Although I do have some really faded black things that I keep saying I am going to dye one day.
